This is a half Mechanics and half Heavy Duty style top. The left hand side of the top can be used for general purpose and woodworking with the right hand side being used for mechanical, paint or other messy jobs - it's easy to clean up on the metal surface. The standard mechanics bench has a full length metal cover. The above bench is a 1200l x 600d x 920h $610 with a deduction from the standard price for this size which allows for metal only extending half way along the top. A Mechanics bench in this size is usually $645 (see table below). The Mechanics bench is in fact a Heavy Duty style with a .8 gauge cover of galvanised steel. The 19mm substrate is capable of withstanding leaking oil and quietens hammering on the bench. There is quite a wide range of engineering vices to choose from that can be found in the Accessories section of this site. The knock-down Kit Form workbench top and lower sections are fully built for you. You only have to refit the legs with the bolts, nuts and washers provided.
