This workshop desk is set for normal chair height. This desk is 1800l x 600d x 730h. Not only a good location for the workshop phone and paperwork, it is suitable for all sorts of trade and craft activities.
This workshop desk was shipped to the U.K. in kit form. The size is 1.5 x .8m. The desk is used for general purpose in a large home studio. The top side shelf stores supplies such as pencils, pastels, paperwork etc. The desk was crated with a larger bench and some selected jarrah for general woodworking . The crate was made of the Heavy Duty range particleboard so that it could be re-used for making shelving etc in the workshop no wastage.
Jewellers

The heaviest of many designs of a jewellers bench. We usually set jigs into the framework. The two ended jig shown, swivels on the top and is quickly locked into place.
The jarrah framework hasn't been oiled and shows the natural raw colour of pink. Each bench has its own secret compartment known only to the jeweller and the person who makes the bench.
When a bench is in full view of customers, jewellers usually choose a jarrah edged top to help create “atmosphere” in the shop. We often use the best jarrah for these benches. A person spending most of a working day at a bench should find it welcoming.
The bench above has an angled bench top cut out, rather than the rounded type. The jigs fit into a mortice in the bench framework. There is a very small drawer on the right hand side and a tray slides out under the protruding jig to catch dust. In this photo you can see a notched jig, in the photo below the notched jig has an angled jig piggy-backing on top of it.
Close up photo of the middle section of the bench above. The sliding tray has two levels. The notched jig is fitted into a mortice in the bench framework. An angled jig piggy-backs on top of it. The angled jig can be seated into the mortice instead if the worker prefers a lower angle for filing. Jigs are made to order or we cut a mortice to suits existing jigs.
The lightest of many designs of a jeweller's bench. Built along the lines of a Basic Bench this quick and cheap version is a good starting bench for a novice or student.
Technician

Anti-static laminate top. The framework is recessed to suit storage of a mobile tool trolley. There is provision on the rear shelving unit for fitting power points and a monitor with a slide out tray for the keyboard.
Panel Beaters

A 38mm plywood top overlaid with insertion rubber offers strength with just the right amount of give for the heavy handed. It protects the ears as well. The lower framework can be covered if preferred.
Transmission

Working with hydraulic parts can be a slippery and messy job. The bath top walls help keep oil (and workpieces) off the floor.
Picture Framing

Two shelves are possible with a standard height bench, making better use of existing space. A flat topped bench is essential for picture framing or leadlighting work.
Craft

Can be worked at from all sides, is easy to transport and is useful for displays.
